A note from David Porter, the Inventor and founder of FUR4:
"To invent is to shed fear mid-air and hope your landing sticks. Every time I look at this framed picture box of prototypes on my wall, I’m reminded of the journey behind building something new. Inside are over four years of trial, error, and persistence. Hand-carved handles. 3D printed experiments. Production models that never made the cut. Each one represents late nights, setbacks, breakthroughs, and the constant push to make something better.
The result? The new FUR4 deShedding Tool. A safer, gentler, and more effective way to tackle the shedding problem that every dog and cat owner knows too well.
Last week, I received notice from the U.S. Patent Office that I’ve been granted approval for my second utility patent on the FUR4 deShedding Tool. Altogether, this marks 28 patents in my career and additional FUR4 patents still pending. A milestone that makes this journey even more rewarding.
For me, entrepreneurship has always felt like jumping out of a plane without a parachute and then trying to figure out how to build a plane before you hit the ground. It’s equal parts terrifying and exhilarating.
Over twenty years ago, I was fortunate enough to invent the FURminator deShedding Tool (David is no longer associated with FURminator), a crazy success that showed me what’s possible when you create something people truly need. Today, I’m excited to bring that same spirit back with FUR4.
Innovation is rarely clean or easy. It’s messy, frustrating, and sometimes feels impossible. But when you finally land the plane, and when the product in your hands makes life better for millions of people (and pets), it’s worth every stumble along the way.
Don’t let your home turn into a Shed Show."
